Beautiful 1967 Shelby GT350 with Hertz livery. This Shelby GT350 has a freshly rebuilt Paxton supercharged 289 V8 with a 4-speed manual transmission. Raven Black exterior with gold racing stripes and 15” Shelby magnum wheels.
This Shelby GT350 was bought in September 2013 by Fred Piluso, a retired nightclub owner and serial Shelby collector. Shortly after purchasing the car Fred had it sent to Craig Conley at Paradise Wheels in San Marcos, California. Craig is known for his expertise in 1965-1970 Ford Mustangs and performed an extensive amount of work on this GT350. The car was fitted with a rebuilt date-code-correct Paxton Supercharged 289 Hi Po four-bolt main V8. The transmission was also rebuilt and was installed with a Centerforce clutch, aluminum flywheel, and Hurst shift linkage bolted to the factory Ford T handle. The car was also updated with a Pertronix ignition.
At the same time, Craig Conley went through the entire car. Conley rebuilt the 9-inch rearend with 3.50 gears. The suspension was overhauled with new Koni shocks. The Interior was gone through and any aging pieces were replaced. The interior is fitted with the original wood steering wheel, new carpet, cobra tachometer, custom GT350 floor mats, Simpson belts, and a Maxout fire extinguisher.
This Shelby GT350 has been in many car magazines and articles. In September 2014 Muscle Car Review did an article on the Paxton Supercharged engine rebuild. The article called this car the “Super Fine 289”. This article is available in the photos if you are interested in reading about the engine rebuild.
