“Originally the DB9 was available with an automatic only...The DB9, however, was at the sportiest end of the GT spectrum. Therefore, Aston Martin decided it was only right that they should offer a manual gearbox alternative. It was six speed unit, manufactured by Graziano of Turin.
Aston Martin used a rear mounted transaxle layout for good weight distribution. The manual gearbox enjoyed lower gearing than the auto. It was therefore quicker 0-60 by 0.1mph.
The original torque converter auto of this era was less efficient and sapped a bit more power from the V12 engine. This combined with the lower gearing made the manual transmission feel noticeably more responsive. It had a lightweight flywheel that made it rev quickly too.
For 2013 model year, the manual was dropped from the DB9. Less than 5% of total production across 12 years were built with this gearbox option. Over 16,500 DB9 were made. Of total production, there were just 385 Manual Coupes” Source: HWM Aston Martin, Guy Jenner
This DB9 is finished in Meteorite Silver over All Bentley Saddle Leather, with Phantom Grey carpets and Tan Alcantara headliner. It is one of just 145 manual DB9 coupes in North America for the entire production run. Of those, 18 were finished in Meteorite Silver.
The paint is in superb condition, and remains that way as the ENTIRE car is protected with high quality PPF. The installation job is fantastic and it is barely visible.
The factory 15-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot 4S tires dated 2018, with nearly full tread. The car received its 13-yr service at Aston Martin Washington DC in 2021 with 17700 miles, and it also received a full CPO inspection at the time. It has just received a 2-year service by CAE Motorsport in preparation for sale.
This car appears to be all original paint and has no modifications. All accessories function properly, and the car drives well and shifts smoothly. The interior is in fantastic condition with no noticeable bolster wear, and the dash leather is nice and tight. The A/C blows ice cold and the heated seats will roast your bum. The car comes with two keys and fobs, Aston Martin leather keychains, Aston Martin car cover with carrying bag, factory owner’s manual, and a tow-hook front plate bracket to mount a front plate without drilling holes. The umbrella is missing.
True 6-speed Manual coupes rarely come up for sale, and this is a superb example. As good as a Ferrari 612, and far better looking, for less than half the price!
