1992 Porsche 964RS Clubsport
This special factory built assault weapon was produced in limited quantities and available to VIP Porsche clientele.
The RS Clubsport (M003 competition) was developed so pro drivers to flex their skills and prove that Porsche could supply a car that would keep up. Although the clubsport was road legal in the European market the only real use was track time, but a trip to the ice cream stand was possible for the hard core enthusiast. The Clubsport was build in limited quantity (one of 290 built) with many being raced and lost.
This particular example has a documented ownership history with Ferdinand Piech being the third owner. It has been used accordingly through its life, but serviced properly to keep it on top of its game. This RS has just been resprayed in its original and
very special color of Rubystone Red. This color is stunning in person and shows very well.
There are many things that separate this from its 964 C2 sibling including:
- Increased power (260hp with might be very modest)
- Lightweight flywheel
- Roll cage
- Recaro seats
- Close ratio gearing with steel syncros
- Asymmetrical limited slip
- Competition suspension
- Lightened body and glass as well as no power steering, windows, seats, a/c or radio as weight was the enemy.
- Chassis was seam welded
This model was only available in the European market, and with US exemption coming close values are likely to climb.
The RS let alone the clubsport optioned cars are a must have for the Porsche collector. If you are looking for a special track toy that will always be very valuable, this is a great option.
