One-owner Platinum Metallic 911 Weissach Limited Edition. This is an original example with no modifications, bought new and serviced locally, and purchased recently from the original owner. The car is free of any accidents, but it was repainted in its original color prior to being delivered to the original owner. He was actually unaware of this, but we discovered the repaint when inspecting for our purchase. It is more common than people realize to have paintwork done at the port or dealer prior to original delivery.
This is a driver-quality car in terms of overall cosmetic condition, and does show some flaws as detailed in the photos, but is a true, one-owner, low mileage example with service records and a copy of the original title issued in 1980. The original sport seats with red piping have been reupholstered and look brand new.
The car is fully serviced, having been maintained by the owner at Steinel's Autowerks for the past couple of decades. The owner did not keep the receipts, as he never intended to sell, but we procured the duplicate receipts from 2004-present from the shop. Recent service includes a gearbox rebuild, clutch replacement, valve adjustment, top-end reseal in conjuction with ARP head stud upgrade, R12 A/C service and recharge, full fluid and filter change, and more items, all detailed in the receipts available in PDF form on our website.
This car has had the important updates performed, including the airbox popoff valve, the oil-fed chain tensioners, and the ARP head studs. The car is absolutely 100% mechanically, and ready for many miles and smiles to be put on by the new owner.
The 1980 Weissach Edition was a limited run of 408 cars built to honor the Porsche Research and Development center located in Weissach, Germany. The Weissach was only sold in the US in just 2 exclusive exterior colors: Platinum Metallic or Black Metallic. They both featured indentical interiors of Doric Gray Full leather, Sport Seats, along with red carpets and piping. On the exterior they featured an early 930-style one-piece rear spoiler, front chin spoiler, forged fuchs alloys in platinum metallic and a standard power sunroof.
Advertising literature pointed out that at $32,000, the Weissach Edition package was 15-percent less than if the various components were ordered individually, but the point was moot; all 408 of this limited edition 911 sold out with more potential buyers left wanting. Essentially a Turbo minus the boost and the wide rear body work, the Weissach was powered by Porsche’s fuel-injected 3.0 L flat-6 engine driving a 5-speed manual transaxle with limited slip differential. It also offered special paint, wider wheels and tires, stiffer shocks and larger Type-930 disc brakes, a front chin spoiler and rear whale-tail spoiler, sealed-beam halogen headlamps, power remote mirrors and antenna and leather interior trim.
